RECENT AD BUY RESULTS
These are results for an ad buy for a high end candy/gift basket company in Chicago targeting corporate accounts for Christmas.
In 2017 the company spent more than $2,000 spent with Dex, which targeted ads for $150-250 gift baskets at the wrong audiences. The results were disasterous. When I dug into the numbers, Dex was blanketing the midwest with ads, including running ads in zip codes in Cleveland and Detroit with less than $30,000 in median family income.
I pointed the ads at a custom set of zip codes that included the top 100 wealthiest in the country, plus hand selected markets (such as Des Moines, which doesn’t show up on the wealth index but has massive insurance and publishing headquarters).
With $2,000 to work with, my new ads generated $5,000 of sales in a single day. The business experienced the highest sales quarter in their history. Ad dollars were split between Google and embedded ads through a third party site on Forbes, Entrepreneur and Motley Fool by zip code. Site traffic went from 200 visitors per month to 27,000 visitors per month, without dropping the per-visit time significantly.
Google Ad click through rates were above industry standards.
